Medical Billing and Coding
The objective of the Medical Billing and Coding** program is to train students for entry-level employment in skills such as:
- data collection
- diagnostic & procedural coding
- insurance claim completion & submission
- updating insurance rules & regulations
- following up on claims
- ... and much more!!!

This program focuses on training students for Medical Billing and Coding through hands-on exercises, lectures, demonstrations, and group and individual projects. Students become familiar with the daily operations of the medical office environment, medical terminology, current billing procedures, implementing procedures and diagnostic codes, basic bookkeeping, and the legal aspects surrounding the medical office.
This skill and knowledge enhancement will enable the determined graduate, upon completion of required coursework, to further develop his or her career as a Medical Billing and Coding worker through externships in clinics, laboratories, physicians' offices, hospitals, or other settings that employ Medical Billing and Coding personnel.
Medical Billing and Coding workers should be logical, practical, creative problem-solvers, curious, inquisitive, organized, meticulous and neat.
