The Medical Billing and Coding program trains students for entry level employment in skills such as data collection, diagnostic and procedural coding, insurance claim completion and submission, updates insurance rules and regulations, following up on claims and much more!
This program focuses on training students for Medical Billing and Coding through hands on exercises, lectures, demonstrations, and group and individual projects. Students become familiar with the daily operations of the medical office environment, medical terminology, current billing procedures, implementing procedures and diagnostic codes, basic bookkeeping, and the legal aspects surrounding the medical office.
This skill and knowledge enhancement will enable the graduate, upon completion of required coursework, to further develop his or her career as a Medical Billing and Coding professional through externships in clinics, laboratories, physician's offices, hospitals, or other settings that employ Medical Billing and Coding personnel.
Medical Billing and Coding professionals should be logical, practical, creative problem-solvers, curious, inquisitive, organized, meticulous and neat. They must also have good reading abilities and critical thinking skills.
